Homemade Vanilla Kreme Style Donuts



Savor the divine flavor of these freshly made donuts stuffed with smooth vanilla crme. Ideal for dessert or breakfast!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • Oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar, for coating
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions:

In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt

In another bowl, whisk together buttermilk, sour cream, egg, vanilla extract, and melted butter

Combine the wet and dry ingredients until just mixed

Heat oil in a deep fryer to 350F 175C

Drop spoonfuls of dough into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side

Drain on paper towels

In a saucepan, combine heavy cream and granulated sugar over medium heat until it begins to simmer

In a separate bowl, whisk together egg yolks and cornstarch until smooth

Slowly pour the hot cream mixture into the egg mixture, whisking constantly

Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens

Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract

Fill a pastry bag with the vanilla cream filling and inject it into each donut

Roll the filled donuts in powdered sugar
